Project Types

We use Project Types to cover different parts of the creative process.

Warm-Ups

Warm-ups are focused technical or conceptual studies used to get you in the creative mood. The work you create for a warm-up might go one to be used in your finished world, but mostly they are one-and-done projects you can use to re-focus into a creative mindset.

Brainstorming

These experimental projects are for sparking new ideas. Rough sketches, thumbnails, shape studies, and paint-overs are just a few projects in this category. Brainstorming helps you define the thing you want to work on next.

Reference

More polished than a brainstorm, a reference is like a blueprint for a game object. These can be storyboards, character or object reference sheets, maps, comics and more.

Key Artwork

Key Art is used in game design to convey an “in-game” representation of a concept. This can be a landscape drawing or detailed study of an object or character within a scene.

Sample Canvas

The Sample Canvas gives you a sense of what your file will look like once you start working. It shows you the recommended tools, layer structure, and other important settings used for the project.
